FXVM vs ForexVPS.net: which forex VPS to pick?

Full disclosure before the first number: both are Forexnese partners, we run our own EAs on both, and both pay us the same way. So this is not a review — it is arithmetic, and the honest frame is value versus premium. FXVM is the value pick, the cheapest way to keep an EA online. ForexVPS.net is the premium brand — more cores, more headroom, lower latency — and, at the size where they overlap, still the cheaper one. Here is where each earns its place.

The short answer

For one or two EAs at the lowest cost, FXVM is the value pick — its cheapest VPS runs about $21 a month, where ForexVPS.net sells nothing smaller than a 4 GB plan at $32. But ForexVPS.net is the premium, better-provisioned brand: more CPU cores, more storage, a higher memory ceiling and a co-located ~1 ms latency. And at a matched 4 GB the premium option is also the cheaper one — Core ($32) beats FXVM Advanced ($42.50). Value versus premium, not cheap versus expensive.

Both clear the same bar

Before the differences, the things that are equal — because they are why both made the list. Both providers co-locate their machines beside the major brokers, so both connect to IC Markets and Pepperstone with low latency. Both run MetaTrader 4 and 5. Both charge $0 setup, hold roughly 99.9% real-world uptime, and offer plans across many data-centre locations. And through Forexnese both discounts are recurring — 15% at FXVM, 20% at ForexVPS.net, every billing cycle, not a first-invoice teaser. Either one keeps an EA online while you sleep. So the choice is not about whether it works; it is about how much machine you are buying, and how good.

The line-ups, side by side

Here is both ladders at list price and after the Forexnese discount, plus the specs that separate them. FXVM wins the entry price; ForexVPS.net wins nearly everything below it:

List prices are USD and can shift, so verify the live figure on signup day — but the shape is the stable part: FXVM stretches lower, ForexVPS.net is built heavier, and they cross at 4 GB.

FXVM owns the floor

At the bottom, FXVM is genuinely cheaper because it sells smaller boxes ForexVPS.net does not: a 1.5 GB Lite at about $21 a month, a 2.5 GB Basic at about $30. ForexVPS.net has no answer under 4 GB; its entry Core is already a bigger machine. If your need is one or two EAs with server-side exits — the setup that just has to stay online — the smaller FXVM box does the job for the least money, and paying for more would be paying for nothing.

The trap to avoid is reading the discount headline as the price. 20% off does not make ForexVPS.net cheaper by itself, and 15% off does not make FXVM the winner — a percentage only means something next to the specs it buys. At 4 GB the lines actually cross the other way: FXVM’s only 4 GB option is its top Advanced plan at about $42.50, while ForexVPS.net gives the same 4 GB in Core for $32 — the larger discount on the lower base, roughly $10 a month cheaper for the same size. Match the machine before you compare the price.

What the premium actually buys

Cheaper at the floor does not make FXVM the better machine, and this is where the two genuinely part. ForexVPS.net is the premium, more heavily provisioned brand, and the lower rows of the table are why: it scales from 2 to 4 to 6 vCPU cores where FXVM stays at 2 throughout, gives 100–200 GB of storage against 60–90, climbs to 8 GB of memory against 4, and pairs it with the co-located ~1 ms latency, 22 locations, and cTrader, NinjaTrader and TradingView beyond MetaTrader. It is the longer-established, higher-grade option, and for a heavy multi-EA stack, tick-data backtesting, or a latency-sensitive strategy that quality is worth paying for. The only catch is that a single uptime EA does not need any of it — which is precisely why FXVM exists, and why this is value versus premium rather than good versus bad.

The latency question: when 1 ms is worth paying for

Latency is the sharpest edge of that premium, so be precise about who it helps. The honest test is the one from do you need a forex VPS: does anything you run react to incoming quotes? A scalping EA, a news EA, a trade copier chasing a source account — those act on prices that are your latency out of date, and shaving the trip to the broker directly reduces slippage. During a news spike EURUSD can move several pips a second; an extra 150 ms of distance is real money per lot, per trade.

But for an EA bought for uptime — grids, trailing baskets, fixed stop-loss and take-profit management — the exits already rest on the broker’s server and fire regardless of your ping. There the co-located millisecond is a spec you never cash in. Buy the premium for the reach and the headroom if you use them; do not buy it for a latency figure you will not.

So which one?

  • One or two EAs, lowest cost — FXVM, the value pick, from about $21 a month. ForexVPS.net sells nothing this small.
  • Premium infrastructure — ForexVPS.net: more cores, more storage, a higher ceiling, more platforms and locations.
  • 4 GB or more — ForexVPS.net, cheaper at matched specs ($32 vs $42.50 at 4 GB) and the only one that scales past it.
  • Latency is the strategy, or a non-MetaTrader platform — ForexVPS.net.

Both pass the same four tests every Forexnese partner has to — discount at the source, permanent, product untouched, numbers you can verify — which is why the VPS list also stops at two. And the honest floor under all of it: if you trade manually, the right VPS is neither of these. It is none, and the best discount is 100%.

FXVM vs ForexVPS.net questions traders ask first.

Which is cheaper, FXVM or ForexVPS.net?

FXVM, at the entry level: its cheapest VPS, Lite, is about $21 a month through Forexnese, and ForexVPS.net sells nothing under a 4 GB box at $32. But match the specs and it flips — at 4 GB, ForexVPS.net Core ($32) beats the equivalent FXVM Advanced (~$42.50), because the 20% comes off a lower list price for that size. Above 4 GB only ForexVPS.net goes there.

Is ForexVPS.net better than FXVM?

It's the more premium option, and the specs show it: ForexVPS.net scales from 2 to 6 vCPU cores where FXVM stays at 2, offers 100–200 GB of storage against 60–90, climbs to 8 GB of memory against 4, markets ~1 ms latency, and supports more platforms across more locations. For a serious multi-EA or latency-sensitive setup that's worth paying for; for a single uptime EA you won't touch any of it, which is why FXVM exists as the value brand. Value vs premium, not good vs bad.

Which forex VPS has lower latency?

Both co-locate next to the major brokers, so both beat a home connection by a wide margin. ForexVPS.net makes latency its headline with an ~1 ms figure; FXVM offers low-latency locations but competes on price. For an EA bought for uptime they're effectively equal — the 1 ms edge only pays off for scalping, news, and copier strategies where speed is the strategy.

Do both work with IC Markets and Pepperstone?

Yes. Both connect to all major brokers including IC Markets and Pepperstone, and both run MT4 and MT5. ForexVPS.net also supports cTrader, NinjaTrader and TradingView, so it's the safer pick if you trade off a non-MetaTrader platform.

Which should I pick?

One or two EAs at the lowest cost → FXVM (the value pick). 4 GB or more, several terminals, or heavier work → ForexVPS.net, the premium brand — cheaper at matched specs and scaling further. Latency-critical or non-MetaTrader platform → also ForexVPS.net. Not sure you need a VPS at all? Read do you need a forex VPS first.
